May this essence in which is contained the wisdom
of the Victorious of the three times,
enunciated here by me,
this advice on the profound meaning,
be taught to noble people who know how to keep their promises,
to those whose mental disposition is loving,
to those who have gentle ways,
to those who fear birth and death,
to those who have intelligence,
to those who do not just follow words,
but search for their meaning,
to those who do not just follow external appearances,
but practice,
to those who have the courage to give everything for what is sacred,
to those who have faith in the spiritual path.
May the holder of knowledge, my disciple, having extracted the essence of the incomparable state of wisdom,
imprint it in the three doors of the deserving spiritual son who knows how to preserve the transmission of teachings.
Concerning those who do not deserve the teaching:
To those who lack intelligence,
to those who are not afraid of birth and death,
to those who make teaching a topic of chatter,
to those who do not know how to keep the teaching in secret,
to those who possess a vain mind,
to those who do not practice but pass judgment,
to those who hide their defects, but investigate those of others,
those who do not possess the true meaning and see nothing but themselves,
those who are used to deceiving and are tied to attachments,
to those who are prey to desire and are under the power of pride,
to those who despise the outside and only wants the inside,
to those who want to obtain spiritual abilities by means of subterfuge,
to the blabbermouths who ruin relationships between people,
to those who shout at the market the secrets of their own family,
to those who raise dirty laundry as a banner,
to those who show off their jewels, but hide the precious essence.
All these should not be taught.
Let the teaching be a secret for them and hide it carefully.
